HUNT & HIKE
MOUNTAIN GOAT in Canada
Our JOURNEY on MOUNTAIN GOAT
It's not just about the hunt, but about the entire experience. We create journeys where nature, respect for the animal, and adventure are at the centre.
We hunt on the animal's terms and take responsibility for what we are a part of. One of the special moments on this hunt is when it all comes together, and the tenderloin is prepared over a campfire high in the mountains.
We, Rikke and Trine, are your guides. We are trained hunting guides and are with you every step of the way - from the first contact to the hours on horseback through the mountains.
THE HUNT
Mountain goat hunting is a true mountain hunt and requires both stamina and a sense of adventure. It's one of the most demanding types of hunting you can experience - often involving steep mountain climbs and long days in rough terrain. But that's what makes hunting so unique and unforgettable. We offer customised hunting experiences so that your mountain goat hunt can be tailored to your wishes, experience level and physical condition. Depending on the season, terrain and your preferences, the hunt can take place in several different ways - and you can combine the elements to make your trip your own.
HUNTING FROM HORSE
The horses take you deep into the remote backcountry and save your energy for when it really counts - when your billy is spotted and the mountains must be climbed. During the hunt, horses help you cover large distances and minimise the need for strenuous treks. When it comes to transporting the meat back from the steep heights, horses are crucial - and this part of the journey is often an experience of a lifetime in itself.
HUNTING FROM A BOAT
In some areas, hunting is done by boat, travelling through lakes and rivers to spot the goats on the high slopes surrounding the water. This is a less physically demanding form of hunting, but still full of intensity and nature impressions. From here we can calmly spot and plan the best approach to the animal, often with an unforgettable view of the landscape.
HUNTING FROM 4X4
From basecamp, we head out into the terrain and find the best vantage points where we have an overview of the mountainsides and can spot mountain goats from a distance. Once we've identified a target, the ascent starts directly from there. Our 4×4 vehicles allow us to cover large distances quickly. This makes for a dynamic hunting experience, combining both the convenience of basecamp with the challenge of mountaineering. It's an ideal way to access the hunting grounds while still keeping the hunt intense.
HUNTING PERIODS
August - September
The hunting season for mountain goat extends from late August to September. The further we get into the season, the harder the hunt becomes. At this time of year, you can see the transformation of the mountain peaks from lush to snow-covered. For the snow goats, however, this is not a problem as they typically stay at the same altitude throughout the season. However, we have seen a few goats moving down into the valleys. Many people think that the skin on mountain goats is better towards the end of the season, but the difference is not as significant as you might think. The biggest difference lies in the difficulty of the hunt - which becomes more challenging as the season progresses. So no matter what time of the season you choose to hunt, you're in for an unforgettable experience.
The area
Our hunting area is located in British Columbia and covers almost 16,000 square kilometres, which is twice the size of Zealand. This area is very special - both because of the rich game population and the unique variety of hunting terrain. The hunting area stretches across three separate mountain ranges, and although we hunt here all year round, it's impossible to explore everything in a lifetime. The western part of the area offers dramatic, glacier-clad mountains, while the rolling alpine hills in the east create a beautiful contrast. Everywhere you'll find willow-covered river valleys and old burn areas.
The journey there
All our hunting trips begin in Prince George, British Columbia, which is easily accessible by flights from major international carriers like Air Canada and WestJet. We pick you up at 10.00 am at the Carmel Inn (www.carmelinn.ca) in Prince George the day before the hunt starts. The journey to basecamp takes around 6-8 hours by car and this is where the adventure begins. It's a great opportunity to get to know each other as we slowly approach the start of the hunt in the impressive Canadian wilderness. To ensure you are well prepared, we recommend that you arrive in Prince George at least one day before pick-up. This way you can avoid any delays and be fully prepared for the hunting experience.

ACCOMMODATION
When you arrive in Prince George, you'll be met by us and picked up in a pickup truck and taken to our base camp, located 6-8 hours into the mountains. We'll spend the first evening landing, sorting out the logistics and getting ready for the hunting adventure ahead. We'll gather for a nice dinner, go through the practical details and take a trip to the shooting range so you feel confident and ready for the hunt.
Depending on your preferences, the hunt can be based at our basecamp, a remote cabin, a spike camp - or a combination of these. Below you can read more about the different types of stays
BASECAMP
Our basecamp is beautifully secluded on the shores of a tranquil lake, in the middle of the Canadian wilderness. Here you'll find rustic yet comfortable cabins with wood-burning stoves and bunks. The basecamp is equipped with electricity and hot showers so you can relax and recharge after a day in the backcountry. We also have a secondary basecamp deeper in the wilderness - a charming 2-storey log cabin that serves as our backcountry camp. Here too there is electricity and a hot shower, this is where we ride out.
CABIN
Our hunting from cabins provides a comfortable experience as we are guaranteed dry weather and have better facilities. Each cabin is equipped with a wood-burning stove and mattresses so you can enjoy a good night's sleep and stay warm after a long day of hunting. We have carefully selected cabins that are strategically located in different parts of the terrain, close to the best hunting areas. This allows you to experience the many facets of the landscape, from the lush valleys to the more dramatic mountainsides. The cabins offer a comfortable stay, leaving you well-rested and ready for the next day's hunt.
SPIKECAMP
Our spike camp offers an authentic wilderness experience. Here we stay in either lightweight hiking tents carried on our backs or in wall tents with stoves carried out by horses. Wall tents provide a little extra comfort, while hiking tents offer a more primitive experience. Hiking tents can be used in all types of hunting if a spontaneous opportunity to take down a moose arises. Regardless of tent type, you get close contact with nature and a true wilderness hunt.

Heading off to Canada, preparing for another bear season next week. Can't wait to welcome our hunting guests for some wilderness adventures. 🐻
As many of you have already discovered, we have been chosen to host a nature programme on DR. Thank you to all of you who are writing and calling – we are doing our best to reach you all in the coming days.
There are many reactions, and we understand that. For us, it's about approaching it with respect, being ourselves throughout, and continuing to communicate the hunt at eye level.
At the same time, we want to be very clear: Our company and our hunting guests are and will remain at the heart of what we do. We will continue to provide guidance, give lectures, and take companies out into nature – both in Denmark and around the world.
We don't compromise on Hunt & Hike – we're fundamentally just two hunting guides with a passion for adventure.
Thanks for the support 🧡

Our last group in Sweden included a familiar face-a former hunting guest and friend from our mountain goat trips in Canada. This time, he brought his twin sons along.
It really made it all come full circle guiding their father to success on mountain goat, and just a year and a half later guiding his two boys on fallow deer here in Sweden.
Hunting across generations means everything to us. Not just for the tradition, but because really the best moments are shared under open skies and around a fire. 🌕

Our hunting trips to Sweden are for anyone who wants the full experience. 🇸🇪
Whether you're totally new to hunting, looking to learn new techniques or just get better at what you already do.
These guys came to learn-and to bring some meat home for their families.
We guided them through everything, from field dressing and skinning to how we plan and approach a stalk, so they could be part of the whole process.
Thanks for a great trip guys, safe travels home 🌲

... And honestly, we don't feel the same urge to pull the trigger anymore unless its an experience we can share with each other.
We just did our annual game report here in Denmark, and our own list was short: a couple of birds and a few fallow calves.
But with our clients it's been a different story - a full season with fallow deer, wildboars, moose, black bear, and mountain goats. A lot of unforgettable moments 🌠
