About us - Rikke & Trine Wagner Jacobsen

Founders of Hunt & Hike

We are Rikke and Trine Wagner Jacobsen - twins, hunters, guides and sisters with a shared passion for hunting, outdoor life and adventure. Together we have created Hunt & Hike, a travel agency where hunting, nature and presence go hand in hand.

Our journey did not begin with a random interest, but in a shooting family where hunting and nature have always been an integral part of everyday life. Our father, uncles and especially our grandfather were our first mentors. They taught us that hunting is not just about technique, but about respect for the game, insight into the rhythm of nature and an understanding of the role of hunting in management.

From childhood, we were taught the basic skills of hunting - from reading the terrain and following animal tracks, to handling a kill with dignity. We have taken these experiences with us, each in our own way.

Rikke is a trained veterinary nurse and brings with her a solid knowledge of animal welfare and anatomy. Trine is a physiotherapist and has a special understanding of movement, endurance and the body's interaction with nature. These are skills we both draw on when we're out in the field - and they make our approach to hunting holistic and responsible.

In our early 20s, we decided to go our own way to explore the many facets of hunting. Rikke travelled to Greenland and northern Scandinavia as a sled dog handler and hunting assistant. Trine became a hiking guide in northern Norway, completed a stint in the military and worked in the South African bush training owls - just like our grandfather did.

These experiences became the foundation for the next big step: creating Hunt & Hike - a place where we combine our experience, passion and professionalism in unique hunting trips.

The start of Hunt & Hike

In 2021, we became trained hunting guides in British Columbia, Canada - a dream we'd had since childhood and grew up hearing stories about at the dinner table. Our father lived the dream himself in his younger years as a hunting guide in the same area. For us, the trip in 2021 was the start of Hunt & Hike - and the beginning of a life where hunting became our way of life.

Since then, we have built a travel agency with membership of the Travel Guarantee Fund, expanded our destinations to Sweden and South Africa, and in 2025 we became certified Deerstalkers in Scotland - a milestone that will hopefully be our fourth and final permanent destination.

We're not just organisers - we participate as guides and live the life we offer our guests. Every journey bears our personal touch because we believe in authenticity and presence.

Our philosophy - hunting with purpose

At Hunt & Hike, hunting is not about the biggest or the most - it's about immersion, respect and true adventure. We want to communicate hunting in a new way, away from classic trophy hunting and closer to nature, craftsmanship and the responsibility that hunting entails.

We organise trips where quality, ethics and experience are at the centre. We only hunt in areas we have visited ourselves and that we can vouch for 100 % in terms of management, animal welfare and nature quality.

We work with local managers and landowners who share our values and respect for both traditions and game. It is crucial to us that we hunt on nature's terms - and always with care.

Our destinations are few and carefully selected. This ensures that we can be there every step of the way - from the first conversation to you standing in the wilderness and experiencing the hunt first-hand. And beyond, when you return home with a memory for life.

We believe in the personal, the wild and the real. And we can't wait to take you out.
