HUNT & HIKE
– FALLOW DEER in Sweden
Join us – Trine and Rikke – on an atmospheric hunting trip in the heart of Swedish nature. Here we hunt fallow deer in an area we’ve hunted for years and know like our own backyard. It’s a journey where the hunt is about much more than the trophy – it’s about the whole: the tranquility of the forest, the smell of the campfire and the special community that develops from the moment we sneak out of the tent for the morning hunt until we sit together in the evening and share stories about the day’s experiences.
We give you the opportunity to live a wild hunting adventure in the great Swedish forests and glades. You can shoot the charismatic fallow buck, fallow deer and calf – as well as wild boar and fox. With us as your hunting guides and hosts, you get a unique chance to be involved in the entire hunting process. This includes the art of preparing, field dressing and cooking your own piece of game.
THE HUNT
Our fallow deer hunt in Sweden is for those who want a genuine and down-to-earth hunting experience with a focus on good meat, closeness to nature and hunting on the wildgame’s terms. You hunt directly from your tent, in the middle of the terrain, and are always close to the action.
The program extends over three hunting days with a total of five outings where you are guided by us and chaperoned. We prioritize presence and time in the field over comfort and luxury. Many of our guests emphasize how much they enjoy the hunt itself and how it differs from more traditional hunting trips.
No meat is served unless you shoot it yourself – but this has never been a problem as all teams so far have been successful on the first outing. This trip is not the hunt for the trophy, but rather an experience focused on the hunt itself and the presence in nature.
WILD
We offer quality hunts for fallow deer and calf with a very high success rate in idyllic Sweden. In our area there is a large population of fallow deer, which has actually become a particular nuisance. Our population is healthy and every year we see mature fallow bucks with a wide and characteristic spread, and fallow does in the best condition. It’s an old strain, so we typically see a good age of deer, which also means that we have many wallowing areas in the area that are used again and again. The fallow deer stay in the dense bushes and dark deep forests, and in the early morning and late evening they move out to feed in the many lush meadows.
HUNTING PERIODS
November – March
The rutting season for fallow deer extends from mid-October to the end of November. During this period, you can see the majestic fallow buck grunting at the feeding grounds to attract the does. Hunting them during the rut is an intense experience, but it can be just as exciting to stalk a large herd in an open field. Fallow deer in our area are numerous and you’re sure to see them whether it’s rutting season or not. In addition to fallow deer, it is also possible to combine hunting with wild boar and fox for a versatile and exciting hunting experience.
The area
Our area is beautifully situated between the two large Swedish lakes, Vänern and Vättern, with Mariestad as the nearest major city. Here you’ll find a varied landscape ranging from dense coniferous forests to large open fields where fallow deer thrive. The idyllic red Swedish houses break the landscape here and there, and the terrain is a mix of flat areas and a few ridges. You can get up close to the fallow deer in the dense forests or sneak up on a herd in the lush open spaces.
The journey there
Transportation to the hunting area is provided by the hunter. We meet at a small kiosk about twenty minutes from our camp. From here we will guide you the rest of the way to the camp where we will spend the next three days together. The journey from Copenhagen takes about five hours, while from Jutland it’s worth taking the ferry to Gothenburg, which reduces the travel time in Sweden to about two hours.
When you arrive at the camp, the hunting adventure begins immediately, depending on the time of day. There’s plenty of time to get to know each other as we plunge into the Swedish idyll together. We welcome you to our small camp, where community and hunting experiences await.
My activities
In addition to hunting fallow deer, this trip is also an opportunity to get closer as a group and immerse yourself in the craft of hunting. We have no fridge or butchery, so depending on your experience and interest, we offer workshops on how to handle meat in the wilderness. You can learn how to butcher and skin on the ground without wasting meat, as well as how to prepare meat for shoulder or full mount.
At camp, there is always a campfire where we create coziness and community. We share stories about hunting and learn from each other’s experiences. It’s an experience where both novice and experienced hunters can learn something new and build stronger bonds through the challenges and joys of hunting.

LOGI
The camp consists of charming cotton tents that are set up directly on the forest floor and blend naturally into the surroundings. The toilet is simple and primitive, without water, giving an authentic experience of being close to nature. During the cold winter months, we create warmth and coziness by firing up the stove in the tent. Evenings are spent around the fire, enjoying the glow of the flames, sharing stories about the day’s hunting adventures and preparing meals from the game we have hunted in the area. The atmosphere is intimate and the community strong, making every hunting trip an unforgettable experience.
Customer experience: Henrik on his hunt
Early customer Henrik shares his experiences of hunting fallow deer in Sweden with Hunt & Hike:
“The hunt took place on the deer’s terms in their natural environment – dense bushes and dark forests – which made it both challenging and exciting. It was magical to see the animals early in the morning and late at night in the vast grasslands.
After the hunt, the tent camp and campfire was an experience in itself. Cooking and enjoying the food from our own hunt over an open fire gave a deep sense of connection to nature and the essence of the hunt.
We give our warmest recommendations to Hunt & Hike – an experience that delivers both great hunting experiences and unforgettable memories.”

A group from the Netherlands joined us for fallow deer hunt in Sweden ❄️
Peter-Jan booked the trip a year ago for himself, his father, and his father’s friend. It was their first time hunting fallow deer, and they wanted a proper hands-on experience.
We had some great stalks in crisp snow and freezing temperatures through the Swedish forests — real winter conditions cause everything in our camp was frozen solid.
It was nice sharing stories about hunting traditions and learning more about how things are done in the Netherlands - we learned how limited hunting unfortunately is in their home country...
Thank you for the good company and positive attitude.
Safe travels home — See you again. 🌠

A small update on our moose hunts – we can now say that only one spot remains for 2027. 🫎
Moose hunting in Canada is one of the things we are most passionate about. The moose is a truly majestic animal, and anyone who thinks it is clumsy has never experienced one in real life. 🖐🏼
Our moose hunts are about the full experience. The moose is a massive animal, and everything must be planned from start to finish. It is hard work, but the reward is immense when you fight for your trophy and later enjoy the meat. 🏔️
We are already looking forward to our fall season when we will welcome some great clients visiting us here in Canada.
2026 – Sold out 🤍
2027 – 1 spot remaining (September 13–22)

What a week. 🏕️
We spent a full week in Sweden hunting with our first group from Mexico and the US. It was a custom trip where they got a feel for Scandinavian hunting traditions and were shown around both Sweden and Denmark.
These guys have hunted all over the world, and this time it was fallow deer in Sweden with us. Long days and cold nights, minus temperatures, sleeping in tents, and plenty of stalks on what sounded like cornflakes.. ❄️
They tried fallow deer for the first time – and we all loved it. Stews, burgers, and lots of good meals made from the deer we hunted.
Thanks for the visit, guys. Hopefully we’ll see each other again in the autumn – either in Mexico or back on Scandinavian hunting grounds. 🤍
If you’re looking for a tailor-made hunting trip, we’re always happy to put something together. 🖐🏼
Welcome to our camps around the world.
This is the atmosphere we offer on our hunting trips.
For us, hunting is about being right where it all happens — not staying in a lodge with a fancy setup, but living close to nature.
Our luxury is the surroundings, the simplicity, and true Danish `hygge` ✨

From January to December – the year truly flew by. Here’s a little look back at everything 2025 had to offer. 🌠
So, what have we been up to in our little venture?
January kicked off with a trip to Sweden together with clients, along with two children’s camps where we taught them about hunting and nature. February took us to Scotland – partly for hunting, partly to scout areas that may become a future Hunt & Hike destination. 🏕️
In March, we hosted lectures and headed off on our very first trip to South Africa with a client – and we’re already returning there with guests again in the new year. April brought us back home to Denmark, where we slowed down, spent time with family and friends. 🤍
May and June were spent in Canada, guiding black bear hunts with our very first Danish hunting guests. July meant more lectures, along with scouting trips in both Denmark and Sweden to keep a close eye on what’s moving in the terrain. 🦌
August was all about preparation – and a very special moment, as dad joined us in Canada for the first time. In September, the autumn season truly kicked off in Canada, and we also celebrated turning 32 years young. 🏔️
September, October, and November flew by with happy hunting guests returning home with their dream trophies. At the end of November, we were back in Sweden to welcome a group hunting fallow deer, followed by a corporate event in Denmark. 🌄
December wrapped up the year back in Sweden with our very last hunting group – and then, suddenly, it was Christmas. 🎄
Thank you for a truly wonderful year. We’re excited and curious to see what 2026 has in store.
If you’d like to join us in 2026, don’t hesitate to reach out. There’s still room for corporate events, talks, and hunting adventures. 🖐🏼
Best,
Trine & Rikke

Many of you have been asking us about dad’s mountain goat. 💭
The truth is, he didn’t get one on that hunt. But instead, we shared an experience we’ll remember forever.
Instead, he received a piece of wool we found from a mountain goat high up in the mountains as a Christmas gift, along with our homemade little wooden mountain goat. 🐑
And somehow, it’s perfectly fine that he didn’t get one this time — because the next trip is already on the drawing board. We’re going to get that goat, and it’ll happen in 2027 hopefully.
Thank you for the adventure, and wishing you a very cozy Christmas Eve surrounded by family. 🎄
