HUNT & HIKE
– a MOOSE in Canada
We are HUNT & HIKE
At Hunt & Hike, with Trine and Rikke as experienced hunting guides, we specialize in this particular hunting area in Canada. We bring a deep commitment and passion to hunting in this pristine wilderness. Although we have hunted across several continents, Canada is where we find the most impressive trophies and the greatest adventures. We offer tailor-made moose hunting trips and we’re with you every step of the way – from booking to hunting to dropping you off at the airport.
Trine & Rikke Wagner Jacobsen
We offer quality Canadian moose hunts with a very high success rate in the most beautiful surroundings. The average spread of our bull moose is 45-55 inches, and some even reach 60 inches. Every year we see more and more mature trophy bulls, and the extent of our guide territory allows us to offer several different types of moose hunts without sacrificing the quality of the hunt or the quality of the moose.
THE HUNT
Since we offer tailor-made moose hunting experiences, we can customize the hunt to suit your exact wishes. Depending on the time and how you want to put together your dream trip, moose hunting can take many different forms. Here we’ve outlined some of the options available, but they’re not set in stone. We tailor each hunt to suit your preferences – creating a truly personal and unique experience.
HUNTING FROM HORSEBACK
Moose hunting on horseback offers an authentic and thrilling experience, allowing us to access remote areas and spot bull moose from a distance. The horses enable us to cover vast terrain efficiently while providing excellent visibility of the landscape. After a successful shot, they also assist in transporting the game back to camp – best companions when you hunt such a huge animal.
HUNTING FROM BOAT
Moose hunting from boat provides a different and beautiful hunting experience as we navigate through the large lakes and rivers in the hunting area. Bull moose often come down to the water to drink during the rutting season, giving us a unique opportunity to spot them from the boat. This hunt is less physically demanding, but still incredibly exciting as we get close to the wild nature and get a completely different perspective on the landscape.
HUNTING FROM HIGHSTAND
Moose hunting from highstand provides an exciting and strategic hunting experience where you can monitor large areas and spot bull moose from a distance. The highstands are placed in carefully selected locations where bull moose often pass, especially during the rutting season, giving you a perfect view of the landscape, giving you a clear advantage when choosing the right time and the best shot opportunity.
HUNTING PERIODS
September – October
During the rutting season we have the opportunity to attract bull moose
by imitate the cows with our cow calls or playing paddles. The bull moose get closer
and provide an intense hunting experience where the chance of a shot
at close range is high. We primarily recommend hunting from higstands or
hunting from boat being near water, but the hunt can also be combined with horseback,
where we ride futher into the mountains to cover other areas.
October – November
The post-rutting moose hunt is physically challenging,
as temperatures often drop to freezing. During this period
the bull moose migrate further up into the mountains, gathering strength
after the rut. We use the horses to cover the large
areas and set up camp in the mountains, which allows us
to follow the bull moose in their highland bedding and gain
access to more remote and undisturbed areas.
The area
Our hunting area is located in British Columbia and covers almost 16,000 square kilometers. This area is very special – both because of the rich game population and the unique variety of hunting terrain. The hunting area stretches across three separate mountain ranges, and although we hunt here year-round, it’s impossible to explore everything in a lifetime. The western part of the area offers dramatic, glacier-clad mountains, while the rolling alpine hills in the east create a beautiful contrast. Everywhere you’ll find river valleys covered in willow and old burn areas that create optimal living conditions for moose. The rivers and mild climate make the area particularly attractive to moose during the rutting season. As the temperature drops and the rut fades, the bulls begin to migrate to the higher mountains where they gather in bachelor groups. Our hunting area thus offers a wealth of hunting experiences that celebrate the diversity and variety of nature.
The journey there
All our hunting trips begin in Prince George, British Columbia, which is easily accessible by flights from major international carriers like Air Canada and WestJet. We pick you up at 10:00 am at the Carmel Inn (www.carmelinn.ca) in Prince George the day before the hunt starts. The journey to basecamp takes around 6-8 hours by car and this is where the adventure begins. It’s a great opportunity to get to know each other as we slowly approach the start of the hunt in the stunning Canadian wilderness. To ensure you are well prepared, we recommend that you arrive in Prince George at least one day before the pickup. This way you can avoid any delays and be fully prepared for the hunting experience.

Accommodation
When you arrive in Prince George, you’ll be met by us and picked up in a pickup truck before heading out to our base camp, located 6-8 hours into the mountains. We’ll spend the first evening landing, sorting out the logistics and getting ready for the hunting adventure the next day. We gather for a nice dinner, go through the practical details and take a trip to the shooting range so you feel confident and ready for the hunt.
Depending on your preferences, the hunt can be based in our basecamp, a remote cabin, a spike camp – or a combination of these. Below you can read more about the different types of stays
BASECAMP
Our basecamp is beautifully secluded on the shores of a tranquil lake, in the middle of the Canadian wilderness. Here you’ll find rustic yet comfortable cabins with wood-burning stoves and bunks. The basecamp is equipped with electricity and hot showers so you can relax and recharge after a day in the backcountry. We also have a secondary basecamp deeper in the wilderness – a charming logcabin aswell that serves as our backcountry camp. Here too there is electricity and a hot shower, this is where we ride out.
CABIN
Our hunting from cabins provides a comfortable experience as we are guaranteed dry weather and have better facilities. Each cabin is equipped with a wood-burning stove and mattresses so you can enjoy a good night’s sleep and stay warm after a long day of hunting. We have carefully selected cabins that are strategically located in different parts of the terrain, close to the best hunting areas, allowing you to experience the many facets of the landscape, from the lush valleys to the more dramatic mountainsides. The cabins offer a comfortable stay so you are well rested and ready for the next day’s hunt.
SPIKECAMP
Our spike camp offers an authentic wilderness experience. Here we stay in either lightweight hiking tents carried on our backs or in wall tents with wood-burning stoves, which are carried out from horseback. Wall tents provide a little extra comfort, while hiking tents offer a more primitive experience. Hiking tents can be used in all types of hunting if a spontaneous opportunity to take down a moose arises. Regardless of the type of tent, you get close contact with nature and a true wilderness hunt.

What a week. 🏕️
We spent a full week in Sweden hunting with our first group from Mexico and the US. It was a custom trip where they got a feel for Scandinavian hunting traditions and were shown around both Sweden and Denmark.
These guys have hunted all over the world, and this time it was fallow deer in Sweden with us. Long days and cold nights, minus temperatures, sleeping in tents, and plenty of stalks on what sounded like cornflakes.. ❄️
They tried fallow deer for the first time – and we all loved it. Stews, burgers, and lots of good meals made from the deer we hunted.
Thanks for the visit, guys. Hopefully we’ll see each other again in the autumn – either in Mexico or back on Scandinavian hunting grounds. 🤍
If you’re looking for a tailor-made hunting trip, we’re always happy to put something together. 🖐🏼
Welcome to our camps around the world.
This is the atmosphere we offer on our hunting trips.
For us, hunting is about being right where it all happens — not staying in a lodge with a fancy setup, but living close to nature.
Our luxury is the surroundings, the simplicity, and true Danish `hygge` ✨

From January to December – the year truly flew by. Here’s a little look back at everything 2025 had to offer. 🌠
So, what have we been up to in our little venture?
January kicked off with a trip to Sweden together with clients, along with two children’s camps where we taught them about hunting and nature. February took us to Scotland – partly for hunting, partly to scout areas that may become a future Hunt & Hike destination. 🏕️
In March, we hosted lectures and headed off on our very first trip to South Africa with a client – and we’re already returning there with guests again in the new year. April brought us back home to Denmark, where we slowed down, spent time with family and friends. 🤍
May and June were spent in Canada, guiding black bear hunts with our very first Danish hunting guests. July meant more lectures, along with scouting trips in both Denmark and Sweden to keep a close eye on what’s moving in the terrain. 🦌
August was all about preparation – and a very special moment, as dad joined us in Canada for the first time. In September, the autumn season truly kicked off in Canada, and we also celebrated turning 32 years young. 🏔️
September, October, and November flew by with happy hunting guests returning home with their dream trophies. At the end of November, we were back in Sweden to welcome a group hunting fallow deer, followed by a corporate event in Denmark. 🌄
December wrapped up the year back in Sweden with our very last hunting group – and then, suddenly, it was Christmas. 🎄
Thank you for a truly wonderful year. We’re excited and curious to see what 2026 has in store.
If you’d like to join us in 2026, don’t hesitate to reach out. There’s still room for corporate events, talks, and hunting adventures. 🖐🏼
Best,
Trine & Rikke

Many of you have been asking us about dad’s mountain goat. 💭
The truth is, he didn’t get one on that hunt. But instead, we shared an experience we’ll remember forever.
Instead, he received a piece of wool we found from a mountain goat high up in the mountains as a Christmas gift, along with our homemade little wooden mountain goat. 🐑
And somehow, it’s perfectly fine that he didn’t get one this time — because the next trip is already on the drawing board. We’re going to get that goat, and it’ll happen in 2027 hopefully.
Thank you for the adventure, and wishing you a very cozy Christmas Eve surrounded by family. 🎄

We said goodbye today to the last group of hunting guests of the year. The hunting days in Sweden brought both wind and challenges, and the cold never quite arrived. But we finished strong with meat for the pot and something good to bring home to their families 🤍
Thank you for the great company, it was a pleasure having you visiting us in the Swedish forests 🌲🌲
